The National Mine Action Centre (NMAC) and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) conducted a four-day workshop on ‘Resource Mobilization for Mine Action’ From 26th to 29th January 2016 at Renuka City Hotel, 328, Galle Road, Colombo 3
The purpose of this workshop was to present good practices, discuss key principles of resource mobilization and the situation of Mine Action in Sri Lanka, in order to formulate an action plan and generate more donor support for Sri Lanka’s strategic priorities for mine action. The workshop was structured around the national strategic plan, a combination of presentations by resource mobilization and mine action experts as well as stakeholder’s group work and exercises. The workshop was organized with the support of UK Department for International Development (DFID).
In this Programme the Welcome Address was presented by the Secretary Mr. V. Sivagnanasothy, the Session opening by GICHD, Keynote address delivered by our Hon. D.M. Swaminathan, Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs, and finally Vote of Thanks was presented by Additional Secretary, Mr. Nayeemudeen.
The Higher Delegates were participated in this programme from United States , Head of Mission Japan, British High Commission ,Canadian High Commission , Switzerland and United Nations Development Programme.
